Chris Romanos

_PhD Candidate

Chris is an architect, focusing on the practice and theory of urban design and territorial planning. He studied architecture in London and completed his master’s studies in city planning and urbanism at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he examined the spatial coherence of Europe’s urbanizing periphery. Before starting at Delft, he directed the design of numerous interdisciplinary projects throughout East Asia, and was Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong’s Masters of Urban Design Programme. His research investigates the spatial and cultural potential of infrastructure in the extended, rapidly transforming geographies of Southeast Asia. Chris’ current project explores the overlapping spaces of water control and the restructuring of territory in the transnational Mekong region.
