Stefan Gzyl

PhD Candidate

Stefan Gzyl holds a professional degree in architecture (magna cum laude) from Universidad Central de Venezuela and a Master in Architecture, with Distinction, from Harvard University. After working for several years in the United States and Europe, he returned to Venezuela. He is Assistant Professor of Design at FAU/UCV, where he was director of a design unit between 2016 and 2019. He is co-director of Incursiones, a non-profit platform working on public space installations, infrastructure, and education programs with impoverished communities and vulnerable populations. Their work has been presented at IAC in Maracaibo, the London Festival of Architecture, Deutsches Architekturmuseum and the InterAmerican Design Biennial in Madrid, among others. With Incursiones, Stefan has designed projects and public space workshops in Caracas, Mexico City, Santiago de Chile, and Portland, OR. His doctoral research with Borders & Territories focuses on the impact of emigration on the built environment and social dynamics of present-day Caracas.
